About Terri
I am an unapologetic learner!
By this I mean I am tenacious about discovering all I can about things of interest to me. I’m not afraid to ask questions and muck around during the learning process. This has held true for over forty years.

I am also on Edmodo, search for Terri Johnson from Saint Joseph, Missouri.
My History:
My ties to my community run deep! I was born and raised in Saint Joseph, Missouri. In my formative years, I was a Northender! I attended Lindbergh Elementary, Robidoux Middle, and Lafayette High School–Class of ’89. Go Irish! My mother, on the other hand, was an administrator in the Southside for over twenty years! She ended her career in education as the principal of Benton High School. I currently live in the midtown area. My children attend Central. I can resoundingly say, no matter where our children attend school within the SJSD, they are receiving the best education possible!
As I went to college, I held a full time job and had two beautiful children. (See exhibit beautiful pic!) Although I held several positions during college, I mainly worked with adults with severe disabilities so that they could lead more independent lives. I graduated from Missouri Western State University with my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education in 1999.
My first teaching job was at Lake Contrary Elementary with a sixth grade self contained classroom. From there, I moseyed over to Truman Middle School and taught science to 7th grade students. When my husband relocated, so did I… to Smithville. I was an Applied Math/Science Teacher for three years before resigning to work for NWMSU as a mentor/coach with the Promoting Reasoning and Inquiry in Science and Math (PRISM) Program.
Next was a series of fortuitous events. I moved back to Saint Joseph and assumed the role of Instructional Coach. This led me to become more adept at using technology to help our students learn. I was an instructional coach both at Truman and Bode Middle Schools for five years.
And now? I am currently an Instructional Technology Specialist with the SJSD. Although my office is located at Webster, I can be found throughout our community. My focus is in the elementary Project Connect Schools.
What I Do For Fun:
I love being active. I can officially call myself an ultrarunner! My first ultramarathon was the Psycho Psummer 50K. This was in actuality a 33.6 mile run that had over 1500 feet of elevation change that was ran in a bazillion degree temps. I continue to run 5 times a week as I train for upcoming races.
I play volleyball several times a week as well. We play on both Intermediate and Power teams and love the opportunity to visit with friends while doing something I love.
I read, read, read… Twitter is my daily source of reading. On a snow day, give me a nail-biting mystery to figure out!
And, as always, spending time with my family and friends is a must!
